10 anglers turned out for the last match of 2019, a wise decision was made to walk along past the life boat station and fish on the shingle bank , with high tide being at 9pm it was all set to be a good night with a slight wind but generally flat calm conditions. We were not disappointed with 119 sizeable fish carded for a total weight of 46lb 1/3oz, top rod on the night with 17 fish for 6lb 14 1/3oz was Ian Childerhouse, 2nd place went to Nathan Drewery also with 17 fish and pipped by 2 1/3oz , with 61lb 12oz, and final podium spot went to Ian Wells with 15 fish for 5lb 10 2/3oz. Heaviest round was Ian Childerhouse with a lovely 36cm whiting and heaviest fat went to John Catchpole with a 28cm flounder. All in all a very busy night for all lets hope it continues for the next match at Waxham which will another first time venue.
11 anglers braved the latest NAC Match at Cley, with a cold south westerly blowing, pegging was to the left of the car park. Plenty of undersized fish from the off and it was a struggle to find treble shots of good ones. However 52 sizeable fish were carded and no one blanked so always a bonus.
Top rod on the night was the ever consistent Ian Childerhouse with 9 fish 3lb, second podium spot and in the frame again was Richard Hipperson with 7 fish for 2lb 7 2/3oz
And final podiums spot was John Catchpole making a welcome return after his skiing holiday, with 5 fish for 1lb 14oz.
Biggest flat was Neil Rowe with a 28cm flounder and biggest round was Chick Roper with a 34cm whiting. Well done also to guest angler Kevin Warner with a credible 4th place.
Next weeks match is at Sheringham, last match of 2019.
11 anglers arrived at this new venue for us all (Eccles-on-Sea, Norwich NR12 0SE – just down from Cart Gap) after the driveway from hell we all managed to park up safely in the gap and ready for our latest adventure, pegging was left and right of the slip. Flat calm conditions greeted us with a small swell in close should have meant whiting galore but as the first hour passed and the tide kept on flooding only undersized fish were making a nuisance of themselves with many catching triple shots of what can only be called micro whiting , even an 18cm match we would have struggled.
The night didn’t get much better as high tide came and the ebb started a few sizeable fish were being caught but top rod on the night went to Richard Hipperson on end peg 11 managing to winkle out 4 fish for 1lb 2 2/3oz , 2nd place with 3 fish on peg 8 was Ian Childerhouse with 14oz, and final podium spot went to Nathan Drewery on peg 10 with 2 fish for 10oz, heaviest round fish went to Neil Rowe with a 30cm whiting and heaviest flat was shared between Richard Hipperson and Chick Roper both with a 26cm dab.
In summary it was a pretty dire night with only 16 fish caught between us and two blanking lets hope next weeks match at Cley produces some good fish.
13 anglers attended tonight’s match, pegging was to the left of the pipe, a cold evening with a slight swell on a flooding tide predicted good numbers of fish , we were not disappointed, with a total of 123 sizeable fish caught between us again as always with Kelling and Weybourne your either on them or your not and finding the bigger ones can always be a challenge.
Top rod and a welcome return to the podium for Andrew Turk on peg 4 with 13 fish for 5lb 5oz, closely followed by Nathan Drewery on peg 6 with 15 fish for 5lb 4oz and final podium spot went to Ian Wells on peg 2 with 12 fish for 4lb 15 2/3oz, biggest flat went to Richard Hipperson with a nice 29cm dab, and biggest round went to Ian Wells with a 35cm whiting, total weight caught between us all was 46lb 7 1/3oz, well done to everyone who braved the cold night.
Next weeks match is at Overstrand but we are keeping an eye on the weather front, all will be notified if any changes occur.
