NAC Summer League Match 21 27th June 2022 Trimingham

NAC Match Report Trimingham 27th June 2022

Ian Childerhouse takes Trimingham on a very quiet night

It’s come to the final match of the summer league and 28 gathered to hopefully send the league off in style before the breaches fill up with holidaymakers. The format was switched to a ‘rover’ meaning everyone could fish where they wanted to either left or right of the slipway, the only proviso was that all cards had to be back by 11:00pm so limiting anglers to take the longer walks. With the HT being 18:39 all would be fishing with their backs up to  the revetments until part the turn and into the ebb. As everyone got into position, lots of fingers were crossed.

Early casts suggested there was a wee bit of weed about. Some early dabs suggested that the evening might bring a few more fish. But as the tide ebbed, the fish started to drop off with very little bite action, and what bites there were where more likely to be weed bangs. All was not lost as were treated to a spectacular sun set – see photos thanks Roger

Dave Sickelmore thought he’d walk off with the match with his smooth hound, but sorry to say this Dave , but size matters (see photo). Highlight of the evening was Rob Fords 31cm Gilt Head Bream (see photo) winning him Biggest Round, whilst Biggest Flat was caught by Ian Childerhouse with a lovely 33cm Flounder, knocking Nathan Drewery and Simon Bottomley off contention with their 31cm Flounders. A slow old night with only 12 fish caught (12/18 – less than 1 average), we won’t mention the number of blanks …….but looking forward, “winters coming”.

Great photo of Ian C with grandson Joey ………….hope he had his McD on the way home !.

Match Result:

Summer League results – having done run the randomiser app last week the full summer league results will be adjusted by deleting 6 worst scores (total matches planned – 21, fished = 20, 1 cancelled due to bad weather, so max score count to determine summer league positions will be 14 scored matches). Results will be announced on  29th August along with winter league results, prizes/BBQ/fish session – same format as last year…….

The Skegness road trip on the 24th July – watch out for updates on Facebook page. So far 11 flagged as going, with 14 others interested. Will discuss with Tony Holmes our Skeg correspondent to refresh info.

NAC Match Report Summer League Match 20 Overstrand 20th June 2022

NAC Match Report Overstrand 20th June 2022

John Harvey keeps up the pressure at Overstrand

A glorious evening greeted everyone (15) meeting for the penultimate match of the 2022 Summer League, it felt like holidays were just around the corner. The sea looked good, so much so that we had a new species to compete with “surfboadericus poissonium”, I wonder how many weigh points you’d get for one of them. But with a spot of NAC diplomacy lead by chief (surfexnegotiator) Nathan who managed to organise  a deal for space for everyone on the beach. Setting up 8 either side of the down ramp.

The tide was ebbing with LT 19:11 meant that there wasn’t a lot of water so it would be a scratch match to find the fish. With match averages of over 25 points per match who (Ian Childerhouse, Nathan Drewery, John Spalton, John Harvey) would be the first to pick up the fish and set the marker for the match or who wouldn’t last the night

John Harvey was first off the mark with a decent “plaice” and set the standard for the rest of the evening. In total of 17 fish caught on the night 12/17 were plaice/flounder/dab with 5/17 being eels. Might be useful to remind readers of the scoring rules for Eels … being 25 pts for under 45cm and 45 weight points for over 45cm. whilst scoring points they cannot count towards biggest round. So, with no biggest round the honours for biggest flat was taken by Mr Peter Simmonds with 35cm specimen. But for the record the biggest eel was 56cm falling to Marc Lawson

In what was a “slim pickins”  night the rostrum was:

Match Result:

1st          John Harvey                                  peg 15                5 fish                                115 weight points (2lbs 2/16oz)

2nd         Pete Simmonds                             peg 11                3 fish                                94 weight points (1lbs 15/16oz)

3rd         Robert Ford                                   peg 4                  2 fish                                61 weight points (1lbs 4/16oz)

Match average                                           1 (was 1 for the last 3 matches) / angler – clearly its summer !

Biggest round                 none caught

Biggest Flat                     35 cm Flounder Peter Simmonds         (peg 11)

Lucky peg                        Peter Simmons (peg 11) / Neil Rowe (peg 6)

The final match of the Summer League will be at Trimingham, with a rover format (fish your own peg so long as you have someone to sign off card). HT 18:39.

Once for your calendars – plan is to hold the Winter/Summer League presentations on 29th August, prizes/BBQ/fish – same format as last year…….
