NAC Match Report Mundesley 21st June 2021
Andy Turk takes Mundesley
The penultimate match of this summer league. Where have all the weeks gone?
Weather had been decidedly iffy all weekend, so it was no surprise that the John Spalton’s pre match photos showed a choppy sea, plus the added fun of a lot of foam on the beach. Looked like we were all going to be fishing in a washing machine on the rinse cycle. Hopefully as we were going to be fishing down to low tide (23:11pm) and that the tide may take the foam aware. Unlucky, as with an incoming breeze NNE it kept what water there was in and choppy. So, 14 soles hit the beach more in hope than in anticipation of a good night’s fishing. We were joined by Nathan Drewery’s guest, Holly, not the ideal introduction to sea fishing, hopefully Nathan’s training would pay off.
We managed to get onto the beach in the groynes from the down path to the lifeboat ramp. We cast off at 7:00pm and it became evident very quickly that it was going to be a bit of a scratch match. With the water draining, choppy and foamy messing we started to see a few early flounder, dabs and a couple of early Bass. Look at the videos posted by John Spalton and Andy Turk to see conditions. Not the best of nights but with the summer equinox it meant no need for headlights until 10:00pm. In total only 14 fish caught, including 2 Bass falling to the cunning skill of John Catchpole (Peg 13 – 38cm largest round) and Andy Turk (Peg 5 – 36cm). The majority of fish were Flounder, with the biggest flat being 2 x 29cm Flounders falling to Andy Turk (Peg 5). Great to see Holly land a 28cm Flounder a good introduction to the club and payoff of Nathan’s training,
Overall a quiet night in not the best conditions with a total of 14 fish of size caught weighing 7lbs 4/16oz (348 weight points). Next week is the last match of the 2021 Summer League let us hope weather good and that someone tells the fish to make an appearance.

In addition to the glory of a podium position (well done Andy and John) each received a lucky articulated key fob made by the digital printing skills of Billy Lyman. This will hopefully bring you good luck in the final match of the season.
