NAC Match Report Bacton 27th May 2019

NAC Report Monday 27th May 2019
Bacton was the venue for tonight’s match pegging to the right of Red House caravan park, with 13 anglers fishing the ebb and first of the flood. The first thing that was noted was the changes to the beach since earlier in the year the sand build up over the closer in gulleys made getting to the waters edge a lot easier than the previous match where wading through the gulley was the only way to fish. From the off fish were coming in but mainly small undersized whiting and dabs. New member Matty Catton was the first to find a hound early on but for most it was a struggle until the last half an hour of the match when the tide started to run. Top spot went to Matty Catton with 4 fish two whiting and two hounds including a cracker at 84cm, giving him a total weight of 10lb 8oz and a first match podium spot, well done Matty, second place went to Russell Taylor who had 3 sizeable fish a bass and two hounds for a total weight of 8lb 1 1/3oz, final podium spot went to Dene Conway also with 3 fish for 6lb 14 2/3oz.
Sundays match at Bacton is cancelled due to lack of interest for sunday fishing, so we will be at Walcott on Monday evening.
Heaviest round went to Matty with his 84cm hound and heaviest flat went to Simon Bottomley

NAC Match Report Kelling 20th May 2019

NAC Report Kelling Rescheduled match. 20th May 2019

After Sundays cancellation it was decided to fish Monday evening at Kelling, pegging left and right of the gate, with a northerley wind blowing and a slight chop on the sea, we were all hoping for bass and possibly a hound or two, with this in mind normal size limits were in place.

As always at Kelling it can be a tale of two halves with right hand side normally fishing better than under the cliffs although this isnt always the case. Fishing up and over high water saw the best chance of fish, with 23 of us lined up the match began.

From the off it was apparant that the weekends match may have accounted for the lack of fish, but there were plenty of undersized and it was a battle to find the sizeable fish.

A close run battle between between the two end pegs saw very different tactics, with Leon Smith on peg 1 and Tyler Rush on peg 23, Leon’s tactics were certainly targetting dabs and fishing for what he knew would be in front of him and not what he hoped to catch a good lesson for all, this he did well with 10 fish for 2lb 13oz, while at the other end Tyler was targetting flounders he managed 4 flounders ranging from 27cm to 34cm. Both these two were unaware of Russells game plan which was to go for the bigger fish namely bass and it was with only 3 fish that he took podium spot by a few ounces for 2lb 14 1/3oz including his 40cm bass. Second podium spot went to Leon Smith using his end peg to great advantage and final podium and a first time up there was Tyler Rush with 2lb 11oz, heaviest round went to Russell Taylor with his 40cm bass and heaviesst flat went to Tyler Rush with his 34cm flounder.

A few firsts for people tonight with Paul Grothier catching his first ever hound and a 5 legged crab, and Chick Roper catching a coalfish, sadly both were undersized and were returned to grow more, 79 sizeable fish were carded and returned.

Big Edible crabs were also prevalant in most peoples catches but all in all a great night with some even better banter before after and during. It was very nice to see a well attended match with some returning faces including Ian Childerhouse and Martin Wheeldon, Hamza Borden and John Borden, along with guest anglers Simon and Mick Farmer, Kevin McMillan and Dave Burr. Well done to all who fished and made it to the end especially Richard Hipperson who was in fact last man off the beach.

An even bigger well done must go to Eamon R Finch who couldn’t attend the match but did come down later and walk the entire stretch from Weybourne to the Block House at Kelling carrying a blue sack and his trusty litter picking tool, collecting anything rubbish wise that may have been left behind by mistake from previous days of fishing.

Next weeks match is at Bacton, please book in early with bait orders.

NAC Match Report Sea Palling 13 May 2019

NAC Match Report 13 May 2019 Sea Palling

A lovely summers evening and a stunning venue to try out, with the majority having never fished this venue and others not fishing it for a good number of years, none of us had any expectations. It was decided to simply spread out along the bays and fish near each other without the need of pegging, so left and right we fanned out, with 12 of us getting setup.
Fish were there from the off with dabs , flounders, whiting, and bass, with everyone finding fish it was a very enjoyable evening in good company., finding his first podium spot was Robert S J Smith fishing his second club match, managing a very good 3rd place with 11 fish for 3lb 5 2/3oz, 2nd podium spot went to longtime club member Billy Rush who fished hard to find 15 fish for 4lb 5 1/3oz, taking top spot this week was Dene Conway with 23 fish for 5lb 3 1/3oz.
With 92 fish recorded between us you can say the venue fished very well and we shall return at some point. Heaviest Flat fish was a 3 way split with Russell Taylor, Billy Rush and John Harvey all having a 31cm flounder, biggest round fish went to Robert S J Smith with a 39cm bass.
Well done to all who fished next match was due to be this Sunday but due to other events being on this is now going to be on the Monday evening venue will be announced on whats app group and on Facebook group.

NAC Match Report Sheringham 6th May 2019

NAC report Sheringham 6th May 2019
15 anglers turned out for this match, and due to the rough up earlier it was decided to fish the promenade and not go past the lifeboat station due to the rough stuff being uncovered further along. Fishing between the groins can often yield good results but it can also be very hit and miss. With everyone opting to fish from the prom rather than risk a rogue wave the fishing was very comfortable, with light and some shelter from the drizzle.
Onto the fishing which was slow to say the least up until just after high tide , when Alan Tew managed to find 3 bass to take top rod honors with 2lb 9 1/3oz, second place went to Dave Mathers with 2 fish for 1lb 1 1/3oz, and final podium spot went to Roger Cunnington with 2 fish for 14 2/3oz.
A tough night but 16 fish carded between us, but certainly not the night we were expecting or hoping for, roll on next week.
Heaviest round went to Alan Tew with a 39cm bass, and heaviest flat went to Hamish Straffon-lawrence, with a 30cm flounder. Welcome to Roy Sadler, Robert S J Smith , Hamish Straffon-lawrence and Ryan Faulkner, hope to see you all at a few more matches.
Next weeks match is at Sea Palling, address for meet is : Beach Rd, Sea Palling, Norwich NR12 0AL. Please book in early.
