MATT BRUSHES ASIDE THE COMPETITION WITH A CLEAN SWEEP
With windy and cold conditions, the match was moved from
Bacton to Weybourne, 9 brave and hardened anglers with no common sense what so
ever, set out to Weybourne for the last match of this part of the season, and
it soon became apparent that it was going to be a hard night. 8 fish were
carded, 3 of these falling to the rod of Matt Lawes , for a combine weight of
13 1/3oz, he also bagged a 27cm whiting for the largest round, and a 24cm dab
for the largest flat, earning him top rod and the clean sweep. 2nd was Paul
Grothier with 2 fish haul and combined 8oz, joint 3rd Russell Taylor and John
Catchpole with a 1 fish haul and 23cm dab each. The final fish fell to Peter
Simmonds with a targeted 24cm Rockling.
Well done to all

Next week Kelling DONT BE LATE if your booked in
Sorry for the late report, i’m still waiting in the car
park for people to turn up.
With 15 booked in, 13 of us set out for Cley, pegging was
done right of the car park for 11 anglers, of the 9 who managed to make the
beach, they found the fishing tough. but with all managing to catch at least 1
sizeable fish (32 in total to the team).
Top rod of the
night went to Billy Rush with 7 fish, he also bagged biggest flat with a 29cm
dab, 2nd spot went to Russell Taylor who also had 7 fish, and final podium spot
went to Peter Simmonds with 5 fish.
The final prize
of the night went to slippery himself Paul Thorburn catching a targeted 18cm
Rockling on one of his last casts.
Well done to all
who stayed for the length of the match, and didn’t return to the car to warm
up, in the tough condition, and again top banter..

NAC Report 14th January 2019 Weybourne
A smaller turnout than normal saw 12 anglers compete at
Weybourne, after a decision was made to move the fixture from Mundesley.
Conditions looked OK but with the recent days rough up it
would either fish well, or terrible, sadly it was the latter with the winning
bag only being 3 sizeable fish.A total of 13 sizeable fish were caught over the
3 hours, and it was noticeable the lack of fish in general with not as many
undersized as previous weeks.
Onto the results top rod on the day was John Catchpole
with 3 fish for 15 1/3oz, 2nd place went to Keith Shaul with 2 fish for 11
1/3oz and with ten minutes to go 3rd spot went to Paul Thorburn with 2 fish
10oz. A proper grueller of a match and you did well if you saved the blank.
Heaviest round went to Keith Shaul with a whiting of 30cm
and heaviest flat went to Paul Thorburn with a 26cm dab.
Next weeks match is at Cley please book in early.

NAC Report Kelling 7-1-19
With the holiday season now over, many were keen to get
back on the beaches and a good turnout of 19 arrived at Kelling eager and ready
to get started, the forecast for the evening was strong WSW winds turning W and
then eventually WNW, luckily the wind changed for the worse long after we had
finished the match, making the night easily fishable albeit a tad uncomfortable
if you didnt bring your shelter. Pegging was again left and right of the car
Fish were coming in from the off with some good sized
whiting and dabs making an early appearance, along with the odd flounder and
pouting. High tide was at 7.21pm so we were fishing just over the top, slack
and then the first of the ebb. Big bows in line was one of the issues as the
Westerly wind blew line down to the right on each cast, but most managed to
steer away from tangling up with the angler to their right.
Top rod on the night went to Andrew Bunn with 20 sizable
fish 6lb 15 1/3oz fishing on peg 9, second podium spot went to Dene Conway with
18 fish for 6lb 7 1/3oz fishing from peg 2, and final podium spot went to Keith
Shaul with 16 fish for 5lb 15oz fishing from peg 15.
Heaviest flat of the night went to Paul Thorburn with a
nice dab of 29cm and heaviest round fish was shared between Keith Shaul , Billy
Rush and Dene Conway all with a 34cm whiting.
Lots of good sized fish came out and the majority in
prime healthy condition, this can only bode well for the upcoming matches as
the winter league draws to a close.
A total of 196 sizable fish were caught , but you can
probably double that with the undersized about aswell.
Well done to everyone who fished, next weeks match is at
Mundesley please book in asap once post has been put up.
