NAC Match Report Weybourne 29 October 2018

NAC Report Weybourne 29 October 2018

Another great turnout with 22 gracing the shingle, this time to the left, rough conditions with a NE wind blowing and a cold chill in the air, winter season is certainly upon us which means whiting and dabs normally in numbers. We were not disappointed with 138 fish carded. Top rod on the night fishing on peg 12 was Paul Thorburn finding his form again with 18 fish for 8lb 4 1/3oz , second podium spot goes to the ever consistent Russell Taylor with 14 fish for 6lb 1oz, and final podium spot goes to our Junior angler Jimmy Shaul Shaul with 11 fish for 5lb 1 2/3oz. With only a couple of blanks and some nice sized fish carded including whiting up to 37cm and dabs up to 28cm a good night was had by all. Heaviest round was shared between Keith Shaul & Paul Thorburn both with a 37cm whiting and biggest flat was also shared between Paul Thorburn and Jimmy Shaul Shaul both with a 28cm dab.

Next weeks match is back on the sand at Bacton meet at Redhouse Caravan Park 6pm , please book in early.

NAC Match Report Trimingham 22nd October 2018

NAC Report 22nd October 2018 Trimingham

The weather forecast had been strong North Westerley winds for Sunday and Monday meaning the chance of fishing at Trimingham could be out of the question, but as always the weather forecasters were wrong, with the wind dropping away early on, the sea state was perfect, that combined with tide times we expected a good showing of fish.

Due to the snags in the first two bays left it was decided to peg everyone from the slipway towards the right, and the majority would be fishing from behind the revetments to start with. Another excellent turnout with 25 anglers on the beach, Tyler Rush, Billys son partaking in his first match, welcome mate.

Even with conditions perfect the fishing was slow and some struggled to find a sizeable fish, but taking his first top spot was John Harvey on peg 7 managing to card 11 fish which consisted of 8 good sized whiting, 2 dabs and a rockling giving him a total weight of 4lb 9 2/3oz. Second podium spot went to Paul Thorburn on peg 23 with 10 fish for 4lb 8 1/3oz, and final podium spot went to Henry Randell on peg 9 with 8 fish for 4lb 3oz.

Biggest round fish of the night went to Richard Hipperson making a welcome return to the club with a bass of 46cm and biggest flat went to Richard Craske with a nice flounder of 34cm. All in all 70 fish were recorded but you can probably double that with the amount of undersized bass returned. 5 bass were carded along with 10 flounders and the rest of species caught were whiting, rockling and dabs.

Next weeks match is at Weybourne under the cliffs, this venue can throw up some bigger fish but it can also lose you some gear, do not overcast or you will be in the rough stuff, we are fishing it over high tide so if sea state is not safe we will be fishing to the left.  As always please book in early.

NAC Match Report Sheringham 15th October 2018

NAC Report 15th October 2018 Sheringham

27 anglers had booked in but with one thing and another only 21 made it to the match, sometimes work just gets in the way or mistress fate throws a hand in, nevertheless the 21 who did make it were all ready to roll, with pegging on the promenade and along past the life boat shed the match started out on the flooding tide. With a good swell running and plenty of bass being reported this last week or so expectations were high, we just hoped the weed wouldn’t play a major part as it did a few weeks ago at Overstrand.

Sheringham can be a tough venue to master and can either fish well or not at all, for some it would prove the latter once again showing that peg draws and features in front of you can play a part but making the most of your draw is what you aim for. Down on peg 1 and under the cliffs was Peter Simmonds who made the most of his end peg by finding 5 fish for 3lb 9 1/3oz his haul included 3 flounders, 29cm, 31cm and a cracking 39cm along with a good eel and a rockling giving him top spot honours this week. Second place also on the shingle was Russell Taylor on peg 7 finding 4 fish for 3lb 2 1/3oz his haul included 2 bass a rockling and another eel over 50cm, so 7oz between the top 2. 3rd place and final podium spot went to John Catchpole on peg 2 also on the shingle with 2 bass for 2lb 2/3oz. 7 Bass, 6 flounders, 8 rockling and 2 eels were carded but with 9 anglers blanking it was another tough night, in some bays the weed was easily manageable but for others it became a struggle as the tide pushed up if the tides had possibly been an hour earlier and a tad bigger the venue would have produced more bass, but as always it was a great night with plenty of banter and nice to see some newer members carding for the first time. Next weeks match is at Trimingham please book in Friday and Saturday once main post is put up, especially with bait orders.

NAC Match Report Kelling 8th October 2018

Kelling report 8/10/18

19 anglers were greeted to a flat sea with not a wave in site and crystal clear water.

With reports of sizeable fish being caught all week from the shingle the match was fished to size limits.

Within minutes of the first cast Leon smith next to myself on peg one reeled in a 37cm Bass for 51 points and was probably thinking to himself it was going to be a good night, alas the first cast curse had struck him and apart from a 26cm Dab he did not see another fish all night.

To my right on peg 3 was John Harvey who was certainly finding the fish with many a retrieve producing treble shots of Dabs unfortunately still quite a few of them under size but he still managed 10 Dabs and a flounder on the card to take 2nd place.

Another angler finding the fish was Pete Simmons on peg 9 with 9 Dabs and a flounder to take 3rd.

Winner on the night was myself with 14 Dabs.

Biggest round on the night was Colin Clifford with a 39cm Bass.

Biggest flat was Andy bunn with a 29cm Dab.

In all 72 Dabs, 3 Flounder, 4 Bass and 1 Whiting were recorded.

NAC Match Report Overstrand 1st October 2018

Overstrand 1/10/2018 report

Apologies for the late report.

Another great turn out with 23 fishing the sand at Overstrand,  pegging was left and right of the slope.

All looked good at the start of the match with the sea having eased off a lot from the mornings swell and with a flooding tide hopes where high for plenty of fish.

After the first hour it was clear that it was going to be a no show for the fish, with very little weed around and a very mild evening it was a case of just sticking it out and hoping to connect with somthing that you could put on the card, fortunatly 6 poeple did manage to find a fish and just in time too as around 9pm the weed hit with a vengance and the sea became unfishable at any distance, within seconds of casting out lines where becoming swamped with 3-4ft of red weed, with many losing gear it was time to call it a night and by 10pm those that had not allready gone where back at the carpark waiting to find out the results.

The winner was John Harvey who managed to find a 33cm Eel which also won him biggest round for the night.

2nd place was Chippy Mortimer who found a 20cm Bass  and 3rd place was Paul Grothier who found an impressive 2 Rockling.

4th was Pete Simmonds with a 22cm Rockling 5th was Nathan Boughen with a 20cm Rocling 6th was Dave Mathers with a18cm Rockling.

A very tough night in the end.

This coming Monday is Kelling with high tide at 7pm, some club members have fished it this week and have had a lot of good fish so lets hope for a better night fishing.
